Raven vs Cluely
A free, open-source Cluely alternative. Screen-share invisibility is included, not a $149.99/mo tier - and your meetings stay on your machine.
Cluely and Raven are the two tools that actually help you live, during a call - real-time answers in an overlay the people you’re meeting with can’t see. The difference is what that costs and where your data goes: Cluely puts its signature invisibility behind a $149.99/mo tier and stores your meetings in its cloud; Raven ships stealth free, keeps everything in a local database, and is open source.
| Raven | Cluely | |
|---|---|---|
| Live in-call assist | Yes | Yes |
| Invisible to screen share | Included, free | Only on Pro + Undetectability, $149.99/mo |
| Price | Free, open source (your own API keys) | Free (limited); Pro $19.99/mo; Pro + Undetectability $149.99/mo ($44.99/mo annual) |
| Where your meetings live | Local SQLite on your machine | Cluely's cloud account (past meetings stored server-side) |
| Bring your own AI keys | Yes, you pay providers directly | No, bundled into the subscription |
| Open source | Yes, auditable | No, closed |
| Platforms | macOS + Windows (native capture) | macOS + Windows; mobile app |
Cluely’s headline feature - the overlay staying hidden during screen share - is only on the $149.99/mo Pro + Undetectability plan ($44.99/mo if you pay a year up front, i.e. $539.88/year). Pro without invisibility is $19.99/mo.
Raven includes stealth for $0. You bring your own API keys, so you pay Deepgram/AssemblyAI and Anthropic/OpenAI directly for usage - typically a few dollars a month, and nothing when you’re idle. No per-seat fee, no tier gating the core feature.
Cluely is a cloud product: you create an account, and your notes and past-meeting history live on its servers (its free tier even advertises “Ask AI about all your past meetings”). Raven has no account and no server - transcripts, notes, and the Ask index sit in a local SQLite database on your machine. Audio goes only to the transcription/AI providers you chose with your own keys. Because Raven is open source, “it’s private” is something you can verify in the code, not just a promise.
A polished mobile app and a very refined onboarding.
One bundled subscription - no thinking about API keys or provider billing.
If you want a turnkey hosted product and don’t mind the cloud or the price, Cluely is well-built.
You don’t want to pay $149.99/mo for invisibility that’s free here.
You want meetings on your machine, not a vendor’s cloud.
You want to audit the tool that sits in your calls (open source).
You’d rather pay your AI provider cents than a flat subscription.
Download Raven (Mac or Windows) and add your API keys on first launch.
Run both during your next few calls to compare the live assist and the notes.
Cancel Cluely once Raven covers your daily habit. (History importers are on the roadmap; today, export anything you need from Cluely first.)
